The idea for Dog Connection came about in the summer of 2011 while I was in transition for a new career. I sold a food franchise in November of 2010 that had been a part of my life for over 20 years. I had a lot of time on my hands and I made the decision that I was going to get a dog. I brought home Milo just a few days before Christmas and I found my new joy in life. He has been the greatest gift, the gift that keeps on giving and costing…..LOL!!! He is spoiled rotten. I have bought him premium dog food, dog toys, treats, bed, clothes, carry pouch, swim vest, wireless dog fence, travel, and car seat. I couldn’t spoil this dog enough because he made me so happy during this very difficult time in my life.
I’m sure the Dog Whisperer would have something to say about my parenting style….LOL!
In the Summer of 2012 we grew our family once again with the addition of a Fawn colored pug that we named Coco.
The name Dog Connection has so many meanings:
The most basic and obvious one is the connection that I have with Milo and that he has with me, but it is so much more than that. It’s about the connection that he has with my son and the other members of my family. My nephews absolutely adore him and hope to have a pug of their own someday. It’s about the connection that Milo has with the neighborhood dogs that we see along our walk. “Nemo”, the Dachshund, waits for us every day to walk by in the morning and in the evening. I have lived in my neighborhood for 16 years and through these walks I started connecting and talking with my neighbors and their dogs. One of my son’s favorites is the Pug Meetup Group that meets monthly at the dog park. He loves seeing all the other pugs and has memorized all their names. It’s been a wonderful experience for my son as he was afraid of dogs (big and small) just 18 months ago. I had dogs growing up and I am thoroughly enjoying being a first time dog owner as an adult.
I made the decision to create a career around my new passion and Dog Connection was born. As I looked and applied for jobs, I wondered what it would be like if I had to leave Milo at home. I created Dog Connection to help foster relationships and make it easy for dog people to connect. I also wanted to provide savings to dog owners who were shopping at the Pet Retail stores. Who doesn’t love a savings here and there? The concept of offering delivery developed, because I live in Monkey Junction and I have to drive to Oleander, College or Market to buy my dog food. I personally would love having the service of not having to make a special trip to go and get dog food, especially for the large heavy bags.
We hope you’ll enjoy Dog Connection and we appreciate your support!
